Callisto is an initiative of the Eclipse Foundation where ten major open-source projects committed themselves to one joint release date. Last week, the Windows version of Yoxos On Demand was introduced to the public in coordination with the Eclipse 3.2 (Callisto) release and has received very positive feedback. Bjorn Freeman Benson, Director at the Eclipse Foundation, commented: "Callisto is out - and the Foundation website has a 'Customize Your Callisto download' web page. Interesting, but not as cool as the Yoxos `Eclipse on Demand'. By the way Yoxos On Demand is a AJAX-based Web2.0 Application." Callisto can be downloaded via the free Yoxos On Demand Download Service (http://yoxos.com/ondemand/). This service allows users to select their ideal plug-in configuration from a comprehensive set of thoroughly-tested Eclipse and third-party plug-ins. Apart from single plug-ins and features Yoxos provides scenarios: prearranged plug-in-packages for different development requirements. The Yoxos Install Manager, which is available as an Ajax-enabled Web application or as an Eclipse plug-in, is used to browse useful plug-in information and configure the desired installation. The resulting configuration automatically includes the necessary dependencies and is provided as a single-file download. Users can update, add new plugins, and manage their configuration directly in Eclipse. The Yoxos update service automatically checks for updates and resolves all dependencies between the user's environment and plug-ins. The Yoxos on Demand download service is free and the update service is available as an annual subscription.
