New Eclipse management and team collaboration Software as a Service (SaaS) Offering

Portland, Santa Clara — Innoopract, provider of the popular Yoxos Eclipse distribution announced the availability of a new Software-as-a Service offering for managing Eclipse and team collaboration. Yoxos Hosted Edition is a simple to use software service that enables professional development teams to collaborate and share project environments including Eclipse toolsets, configurations and source code.
Developers using Eclipse profit from the ever growing capabilities of the tool suite to write code more efficiently, to model and generate code and to access team collaboration systems. But the expansion of Eclipse also means more complexity in setting up, configuring and maintaining Eclipse toolsets. The new Yoxos Hosted Edition enables sharing of all necessary configuration data in “Profiles”, significantly streamlining the management of Eclipse and facilitating access to well established team collaboration systems.

Tool setup is a recurring task required for every new project and new team member, which traditionally takes up to several hours. With a preconfigured Yoxos Profile a new team member simply downloads and extracts a single software package. Once started, the Eclipse installation is automatically initializes itself with predefined projects, settings and tools. This may include Mylyn configurations, Team Project Sets, Checkstyle configurations and plug-in preferences, like code formatter settings. In case of later changes to the Profile all team members get notified and can synchronize their local environment.
Unlike other software management solutions, defining a Yoxos Profile is quick and easy. Using an intuitive Ajax Web 2.0 interface, development teams create their project-specific Profiles from a broad set of Eclipse plug-ins and features such as source code management (CVS, Subversion), bug and requirements tracking (Bugzilla, Jira), quality control (Checkstyle) and more. Profiles can easily be shared between developers by providing simple URLs.
Yoxos Hosted Edition provides access to hundreds of Eclipse plug-ins and allows the integration of commercial or custom-developed plug-ins. Automatic resolution of dependencies, quality control tools and versioning capabilities mean that companies can maintain a consistent and functioning tool chain.
