Q: Do I need a Java Runtime Environment?
A: Yes. We recommend at least Java Runtime Environment 1.5. For Mac OS X see below.
Q: Which platforms are supported?
A: Currently we support the following platforms:
Windows 98/ME/2000/XP
Linux (x86/GTK 2)
Mac OS X (Carbon/Universal Binary)
Q: What is required to run Yoxos on MAC OS X?
A: Eclipse 3.2 supports the Intel architecture (Universal Binary). Eclipse 3.2 requires Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) or higher and Java 1.5.0 Release 4 (or greater) and the additional "SWT Compatibility Libraries" must be installed. These libraries can be downloaded from the Downloads section of Apple Developer Connection.
It's free to create an account at Apple Developer Connection to access the download (180K). For more information see: https://bugs.eclipse.org
Q: What do I need to run Eclipse on Linux/GTK
A: You'll need at least a Sun JRE 1.5.0 and a installation of Mozilla or Firefox.
Note that you may need to set the environment variable MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME to the folder containing your Mozilla/Firefox installation.
e.g. export MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME=/usr/lib/firefox-1.5.0
Q: When I try to update, nothing happens. What can I do?
A: To allow Yoxos to connect to the Internet, you need to set "allow network communication to retrieve online content". To do so, go to Window->Preferences->Yoxos->Network and set the according checkbox.
Q: When I select plug-ins, I get a message "specify an existing eclipse installation".
A: This is a known issue in some installations. To solve this problem: select the YIM Install Wizard. There select "add to an existing installation from the Yoxos distribution". In the next tab "set installation paths", specifiy the path to your Eclipse Installation. Click Finish, problem solved.
Q: How can I see the features resp. the installed plug-ins?
A: There is a list of features and plug-ins accessible from the About Dialog (Help > About Eclipse Platform, then press one of the 'Feature Details' resp. 'Plug-in Details' buttons).
Q: How can I uninstall Yoxos?
A: You can uninstall an installation that was done with Yoxos like any other Eclipse installation, just by deleting the eclipse/ folder where you installed it. There are no registry entries etc.
Q: My favorite plug-in is missing in the newest Yoxos. What can I do?
A: Once you upgrade to a Yoxos version 2.1 or higher, Yoxos will support and provide ONLY those plug-ins that exist in a version compatible to Eclipse 3.2. If you want to keep an Eclipse prior to 3.2 or any plug-in not (or not yet) compatible with Eclipse 3.2, please do NOT update YIM to a version higher than 2.1.1 or YFES higher than 2.0.7. If you have already done so, you can rollback to a prior configuration using "Help -> Software Updates -> Manage Configurations", then "Revert to Previous".
